Invasive Bamboos – Their impact and management in Great Britain and Ireland

Brian Taylor and Jim Glaister of The Knotweed Company, along with Max Wade of AECOM, have written a book on the impact invasive bamboos can have, along with practical advice on how to manage, treat or remove bamboo. Published by Packard Publishing, it can be purchased here or ordered through your local bookseller.

The book contains information on:
  • The difference between running and clumping bamboo
  • Biology, ecology and escape into the wild
  • The impact bamboo can have on the built environment and amenity areas
  • The most common invasive bamboos in Great Britain and Ireland
  • Case studies of real bamboo scenarios and their solutions
  • Practical advice on developing a management strategy

In a review, Peter Fitzsimons of the Property Care Association called the book “particularly useful and timely” and commended its “easy to read style”. He concluded:

“The book is a small package but it packs a punch. If you are involved in any capacity in land or property management and want to tap in to expert opinion and a lot of practical know-how about bamboo control, we strongly recommend you buy a copy. It’s a book you will definitely get your money’s-worth from.”
